I am a gamer.
When I bought my PS5, it came packaged with a remake of Demon’s Souls. The graphics looked great, but I never started playing it until a month ago.
I have played various games, but one genre that has been excluded is Soulslike. These games are made by fromSoftware and are famous for their brutal boss battles. I have 200%’d Cuphead and felt I was up for the challenge.
I didn’t know what to expect, but I died a lot. I could not even get past the first few minions. I had to learn about blocking and parrying. I improved, but then the minions got more challenging, and I asked where are these bosses I keep hearing about?
The first boss wasn’t as bad as I expected. I had built up some healing items, and it only took a few more runs to defeat them. But the game didn’t get much easier until I started to level up and “get good.” I understood the different types of creatures I might face, and eventually, after dozens of hours. I defeated the last boss I watched cut scene glory.
I couldn’t tell you anything about the game’s plot; I didn’t care. I loved the graphics, the action, and the challenge.
I have learned that many people consider Demon’s Souls the worst fromSoftware soulslike game. Leaving me with Dark Souls ($40), Dark Souls 2 ($60), Bloodborne ($20 / PS+), Dark Souls 3 ($60), Sekiro ($60), and Elden Ring($60) still to play. This does not even include the expansions for most of these games.
With Black Friday arriving, I got the PS5 disc version of Elden Ring with the expansion for $50. My next adventure awaits.
