Barbie (2023)

Barbie (2023)

I saw Barbie in a 141-person Dolby Cinema at AMC Theater on Wednesday, July 19th, at 7:00 CT. I went with my wife to the special opening night and sat up front in a packed theater. I also went Friday, July 20th, at 9:30 AM CT with my 11-year-old.

The Premier had no trailers. It did have Ryan Gosling singing his fantastic song, though.

Brief Review

I’m reviewing this after my second time watching the movie. I loved it even more the second time. Ryan Gosling as Ken is a top-10 comedic character. Everything he did, I was laughing at. His song and guitar playing had me in stitches. Margot Robbie was overshadowed because of how straight she had to play her role, but she was also excellent. The film touched on subjects I did not expect and did an appropriate job of hand waving how Barbie interacted with real humans.

It was a combination of The Matrix and The Lego Movie and deserves to be seen by everyone this summer.

Scores
