My six-month AMC A-List subscription will expire at the end of October. Should I renew it? Although I have not seen nearly as many movies as last year, I still get value from my subscription this summer. Seeing two movies a month is covering the cost, but what about the rest of the year? What do we have left?
September 2024
- Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (September 6)
- Speak No Evil (September 13)
- Transformers One (September 20)
- The Wild Robot (September 27)
- Wolfs (September 27)
I will want to see Beetlejuice 2. The first was a classic in my household, and I want to see another on the big screen. Transformers One looks too kiddy for my taste, but my youngest will probably want to see it. Wolfs seems like a perfect date night movie.
October 2024
- Joker: Folie a Deux (October 4)
- Smile 2 (October 18)
- Venom: The Last Dance (October 20)
I feel like I’m missing something, as apparently, no one wants to release movies in October. I never saw the second Venom, even though I own it. I enjoyed Smile, but I will want to see reviews before thinking the second will be anywhere near as good. I am however very interested in seeing what Joker 2 has to offer.
November 2024
- Here (November 1)
- Red One (November 15)
- Gladiator II (November 22)
- Wicked (November 22)
- Moana 2 (November 27)
I have no interest in any of these movies. My wife will probably want to see Wicked, and we will probably see Moana 2 as a family, but there’s much meh here.
December 2024
- Nightbitch (December 6)
- The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim (December 13)
- Kraven the Hunter (December 13)
- Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (December 20)
- The Room Next Door (December 20)
- Mufasa: The Lion King (December 20)
- Nosferatu (December 25)
I enjoy the Sonic franchise and would want to see Sonic 3. I also have high hopes for The Lord of the Rings, but they seem like movies I could watch at home.
Opinion
This has been a lackluster year for movies. While I thoroughly enjoyed Deadpool & Wolverine, I don’t think it’s a masterpiece. The only film that seems mildly interesting in early 2025 is Captain America: Brave New World, but I’m honestly not excited about it. After catching Joker 2, I won’t miss too much if I cancel the subscription and rejoin in April 2025. I will be able to see all the summer superhero movies, MI:8 and Jurassic World 4. Avatar 3 is set to release in December, which may be a draw to continue the subscription next year.
