Brief Review
Besides Transformers, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were the biggest toys in my life. I remember watching the TV show and getting the van that shot pizzas. I’m familiar with the franchise and was excited to see the movie with my child.
It lived up to my dreams. The Turtles are meant to be weird and silly and… teenage. I loved the art style; it made the movie dark but still colorful. It used asymmetrical faces and kept you engaged with the screen. It was a perfect length and had many comedic moments. I would compare it to Spider-Verse, but much lighter. These are teenagers who are fighting baddies, but there’s a goofiness that I appreciate. Although Spider-Man may be a better movie-movie, this is a better kid-forward PG movie.
Strong recommendation.
