INTVL for the LOLs

INTVL for the LOLs

I run. I compete. I don’t let an opportunity to assert my dominance to pass.

My friend, who recently tore his ACL, told me about this new app, INTVL.

The app is pretty straightforward. You run and you claim territory. The key is that you actually have to do a full loop. You need to end where you started.

I actually prefer out and backs. You can easily change plans to run further or longer based on how you are feeling, and you don’t get lost.

But, I am willing to change if it means getting fake internet points.

I saw that there was plenty of area around me that was untouched. I knew that if I did a giant loop, I could claim “King of the Area.” I mean, I can’t actually see this title without paying for a pro subscription. But, we know.

Within a day a large chunk of the area was taken back. Some stranger robbed me of my glory. It rained for a few days, but I then headed back out onto some random loops to get my imaginary title back.

I am now finding myself willing to drive somewhere just to get a new loop done. There are large areas without any coverage at all. I fear I am going to run an ultra-marathon on small rural roads just so I can claim some digital real-estate.

I guess I have made worse decisions.
