I received a 6-month AMC A-List subscription for my birthday in April. I dominated the first four months. I see an average of 8 movies a month. However, once August rolled in, exciting films and robust showtimes disappeared.
I only saw one movie in August. TMNT: Mutant Mayhem in 3D with my whole family.
In September, I also only saw one movie, They Live. Except this was a special showing not included in A-List.
In October, I felt pressured not to completely waste my last two weeks and saw Saw X and The Creator. I was curious about Taylor Swift, but my kids did not.
After seeing 32 movies in the first four months, I only saw three in the last two months. 35 movies in six months is still a solid performance and use of A-List.
With the writer’s strike and a lack of movies for the rest of the year, I will not renew my membership, but interesting films are still coming.
Killers of the Flower Moon, The Marvels, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and Napolean are movies I may still watch. Canceling Apple TV and saving $7/mo is probably worth not waiting for the two months for Killers of the Flower Moon to arrive on the platform.
AMC A-List does not allow you to renew your membership until six months after canceling. This means I can binge movies again in April 2024.
Until next year, movies!
