My Brief Review

Did I feel odd being a 41-year-old man going to see this film myself at 11 am on a Friday? Sure. Was it a perfect family and worth my time? 100%.

The child actors are lovely, and Rachel McAdams stole every scene.

There were many opportunities for the film to go the classic corny, Disney-esque film tropes, and instead, Kelly Fremon Craig treats the audience with respect.

I had never read the book or experienced female puberty, but the child and adult situations were too real. To have religion even discussed in a movie was a breath of fresh air. Life is not perfect, and I recommend this film to all ages.
