Brief Review
I was never a big Indiana Jones fan; my Dad, on the other hand, loved the films. I saw The Last Crusade over a dozen times. It is an outstanding film, made almost 35 years ago. Sean Connery is portrayed as an old and feeble father; he was 59 at the time. Harrison Ford is 80.
The first act of the film has a de-aged Ford that is pretty convincing, except for his voice. There is no vigor or passion in Ford’s eyes or vocal chords. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is not much better. You are not cheering for these characters. And the villains are not much better. They’re just Nazis.
This is a time-travel movie, and I guess I give time travel a pass more than I give ancient aliens (Crystal Skull) a pass. The time travel plot made sense and wasn’t overly distracting or ridiculous.
The car chase in Tangier was solid, but the movie drags too much. This is worth seeing as an Indiana Jones completist, but not otherwise; it is an unnecessary viewing.
