Brief Review
I have not seen a Saw movie in a while. I remember enjoying the first one. The premise was insane, and it was my first introduction to what would be lovingly called Torture Porn. I watched the next three or so movies primarily to see what weird devices they would create. As I grew older and grew my family, I didn’t want to be caught watching one of the movies at home.
I did not use any A-List movies in August or September, and with only two weeks left on my 6-month membership, I decided to put my foot back on the gas. I didn’t know anything about the movie besides it had positive reviews.
The movie starts strong with a game, but then you are left for about 30 minutes of plot setup. This portion could be shortened. We know who Jigsaw is and what he is going to do. Once the final two acts are in place, they go smoothly with a nice twist and a payoff for a Saw X2. I was glad to see Jigsaw back, and some games made me genuinely cringe.
