300 Chin-Ups A Day

300 Chin-Ups A Day

I told you about how I couldn’t handle doing so many chin-ups in a day anymore. I was obviously maturing.

I identified how difficult the activity itself was.

It takes up an enormous amount of time.

No one is asking me to do this.

I kept doing chin-ups.

Instead of complaining about wasting my time doing so many chin-ups, I realized that I could do something in between sets. I started cleaning up our basement.

I gave myself a rock and a hard place. I forced myself to either declutter or do chin-ups. I didn’t want to do either thing. But I told myself those were the only two options.

It somehow worked. I found myself using my decision making energy up in what crap to keep or not. When that ran out I would do some chin-ups. When I got tired of that I moved some more things around.

It was taking me longer to get the chin-ups done, but my time spent in the basement was more fruitful.

Before I knew it I decided to try to see how fast I could do 300 chin-ups.

I did it in 26 minutes. Just three months ago I did 200 in 24 minutes.

I didn’t expect that much of an improvement in such a short time, but I feel like not only can I now do reps of 20 instead of 15, but I also have the energy to take shorter breaks in between sets.

I’m not thinking about quitting anymore. I’m thinking about breaking records.

According to Guinness, the world record for chin-ups in 24 hours is 7,479. 5.2 chin-ups/minute.

First things first. He is not getting his chin over the bar.

This led me to look into the official rules for chin-ups and landed me here. The World Organization for Pull-ups.

What else is out there? What else can I achieve?
