Fast X (2023)

I had to see the first showing of Fast X in a 274-person IMAX theater Thursday, May 18, at 2:00 pm CT. Unfortunately, I could only see the first hour, so I caught the movie again on Friday, May 19, at 11:00 am CT.

My Brief Review

It’s impossible to review a Fast and Furious movie at this point in the franchise. These films are a spectacle. They don’t make any sense and defy many natural laws without an explanation. When did these street racers become superhuman fighting machines? At one point in the movie, a character sacrifices themselves and doesn’t seem to do anything worse than Dom had done multiple times in the film already. It’s Indiana Jones with cars. A car crash you can’t look away from.

Diesel is compared to a saint in the film and saves an entire country by playing Rocket League. The film has some great action scenes that are impossible. However, the non-action scenes are a slog. You see characters pairing off and rarely seen together as the team they are portrayed. I can’t believe this is going to be a trilogy. In the same way that I can’t believe I am actually recommending you to watch this dumpster fire.

Don’t take it too seriously, and feel free to laugh in its face.

Family.
