When I tell people that I am retired at the age of 43, the general response is either, “that’s so cool,” or “what do you do all day?”

Well, here’s a typical Tuesday for me:
6:30am: My oldest leaves for school at 7am and I do my best to be awake before they head out. I will usually get my meditation done before I physically leave bed. I then play Wordle and Connections.
7:00am: My wife is usually walking the dogs, and I am probably getting my daily reading done. I only read for 10-minutes, usually it is some type of self-help book, but I will occasionally switch to fiction. For example, I am now trying to read some New York Times Best Sellers.
7:30am: I make sure my youngest is picked up for school and I start working on my “computer” activities. I will put on the Price is Right or some YouTube gaming channel while I complete these tasks.
- I journal at least 100 words on Penzu. I’m just summarizing the previous day and up and anything that is lingering in my mind.
- I spend 10-15 minutes on this blog. I try to get posts built up for release every Tuesday @ 600am.
- I write and commit code. I am working on talkie-trivia currently and am generally asking Google AI Studio for input.
8:30am: I start preparing espresso for my wife and myself. I make a macadamia nut milk cappuccino for myself and an oat milk latte for her.
9:00am: I will continue working on my computer things as needed and then start my “personal health” activities.
- I put on some music and dance for at least a minute. This helps get my juices flowing.
- I floss will I do air squats.
- Then I shave while doing more air squats.
- Then I brush my teeth while doing crunches.
- I then finish my One Punch Man routine by doing 100 pushups as fast as I can.
- If I’m disciplined, I do my planking shortly after. I’m currently up to 7 minutes.
- I also take my vitamins (D3, Magnesium, Omega 3, Multivitamin)
9:30am: Now I start getting ready and procrastinate for my daily run. I go to the bathroom and then procrastinate for another 30+ minutes and go to the bathroom again.
10:30am: I run 8+ miles. I also play a video game while I run. Usually it is Magic the Gathering, but currently I’m deep into Hades 2 on the treadmill.
Noon: I replenish by electrolytes and eat a crappy lunch before going to take my daily shower.
1:00pm – 2:30pm: At some point I will take a dog or two for a walk. I will usually get my music streak done. I’m currently using Earpeggio to help me understand how notes sound.
2:30pm: I pick up our youngest child from school.
3:00pm-5:00pm: This time can vary on the time of the year. Usually my kids have activities after school, but when they don’t, I try to be around for them. My youngest will have math homework I will help with. We may throw the disc or just watch TV together, but honestly, they usually like to do their own things. I may help make dinner or cookies, or do yard work. This is the last part of my day to get anything productive done.
5:00pm-6:00pm: We have dinner and then go for our family walk with the dogs. This will also start my 15 hours of fasting.
6:00pm-10:00pm: This is usually lounge time. I will try to get myself to do some of the things I wanted to do earlier in the day but didn’t. I may be picking up or dropping off kids from activities, but generally I’m watching TV or playing a video game.
10:00pm: I get my second tooth brushing done before heading to bed. I may also be scrambling to do push-ups or planking if I haven’t done that earlier in the day.
